A little bit about what I do...

So I had a bride ask me today why I do what I do and why if I'm so good...(in her opinion), do I not advertise. I have had that question before so I figured maybe I should address all of it a little bit. SOOOO....I guess I just like photography so that's why I do it. I don't do it to make a millions dollars, because lets face it, every photographer in the GR area knows that the market is way to saturated. People are struggling as we all know, and turning your hobbies into a another part time career always seems like the logical thing to do. I don't' blame anyone for that but it also makes it very hard for the rest of us to make a living off it. Also I am not a competitive person...especially when it comes to my work. If someone likes me than they like me, if they don't then they don't. I hate selling something to someone if they don't want it, so I just don't . I love shooting all different things when I'm behind a camera, I was taught to see the beauty in even the most mundane things, so really that's all I focus on. When I first finished going to school for my Fine Arts Degree in photography I thought I would try to make a job out of it, but after a year into it I realized I was losing sight of what made it so amazing to me. I was focused more on the business and less on what photography meant to me. That bothered me so I took a step back from it and started pursuing another degree in something else that meant a lot to me. (Nursing)

I think now that I have taken that step back I can look at it all in a different light. I don't overwhelm myself with the business but rather I focus on the details that make this job so amazing. I do take on weddings by myself, and I plan on advertising here and there eventually, but for me I just enjoy being there. I love helping out some of the girls that I graduated with. Every wedding season I second shoot with at least two of the girls that I went to school with which gives me the chance to do as many weddings as I want and yet I don't' have to worry about all the business stuff. So to make this as simple as I can, I love photography. I love love love being able to do tons of weddings every season, but I also love being able to let someone else take care of the business portion of the job!
